Where can I find God?

Prayers from the Saints

O Mary, conceived without sin

O Mary, conceived without sin,
pray for us who have recourse to thee.
Holy Mary, pray for us!
Immaculate Heart of Mary,
pray for us now and at the hour of our death.
Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation!
Our Lady, Queen of Peace, pray for us!
(St. Alphonsus Liguori)

Prayer of Abandonment

Take, O Lord, and receive my entire liberty, my memory,
my understanding and my whole will.
All that I am and all that I possess
You have given me:
I surrender it all to You to be disposed of according to Your will.
Give me only Your love and Your grace;
with these I will be rich enough,
and will desire nothing more.
Amen.
(St. Ignatius)

Prayer of St. BenedictFather, in Your goodness grant me the intellect to comprehend You,
the perception to discern You,
and the reason to appreciate You.
In Your kindness
endow me with the diligence
to look for You,
the wisdom to discover You,
and the spirit to apprehend You.
In Your graciousness
bestow on me a heart
to contemplate You,
ears to hear You,
eyes to see You,
and a tongue to speak of You.
In Your mercy confer on me
a conversation pleasing to You,
the patience to wait for You,
and the perseverance
to long for You.
Grant me a perfect end,
Your holy presence.

Peace Prayer

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.

Where there is hatred,
let me sow love,
where there is injury, pardon,
Where there is doubt, faith,
where there is darkess, light
and where there is sadness, joy.

Oh Master, grant
that I may not so much seek
to be consoled
as to console,
to be understood
as to understand,
to be loved
as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,
pardoning that we are pardoned
and in dying that we are born to eternal life.
(attributed to St. Francis)

Prayer of St. Richard of ChichesterThanks be to you, our Lord Jesus Christ,
for all the benefits which you have given us,
for all the pains and insults which
you have borne for us.
Most merciful Redeemer, Friend
and Brother,
may we know you more clearly,
love you more dearly,
and follow you more nearly,
day by day.
Amen.

Marian Prayer of Bl. Teresa of CalcuttaGive us a heart as beautiful, pure, and spotless as yours.
A heart like yours, so full of love and humility.
May we be able to receive Jesus as the Bread of Life,
to love Him as you loved Him,
to serve Him under the mistreated face of the poor.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Prayer of St Francis Xavier

Eternal God,
Creator of all things,
remember that You alone
has created the souls of unbelievers,
which You have made according to Your Image and Likeness.
Behold, O Lord,
how to Your dishonour many of them are falling into Hell.
Remember, O Lord,
Your Son Jesus Christ,
Who so generously shed His Blood and suffered for them.
Do not permit that Your Son, Our Lord,
remain unknown by unbelievers,
but, with the help of Your Saints and the Church,
the Bride of Your Son,
remember Your mercy,
forget their idolatry and infidelity,
and make them know Him,
Who You have sent,
Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord,
Who is our salvation,
our life, and our resurrection,
through Whom we have been saved and redeemed,
and to Whom is due glory forever.
Ame

A Despair Prayer

Lord, I am in this world
to show Your mercy to others.
Other people will glorify You
by making visible the power of Your grace
by their fidelity and constancy to You.
For my part I will glorify You
by making known how good You are to sinners,
that Your mercy is boundless
and that no sinner
no matter how great his offences
should have reason to despair of pardon.
If I have grievously offended You, My Redeemer,
let me not offend You even more
by thinking that You are not kind enough to pardon Me.
Bl. Claude del la Colomb
